This was my first trip to China since stepping into my new role . I was travelling there to meet my global team in person a chance to get to know the people behind our meetings and emails, listen to their experiences and spend time together where they work.
The journey began at Frankfurt Airport, with blue skies outside and a long flight ahead. Our first stop was Hong Kong around eleven hours away with Cathay Pacific.
Frankfurt Airport: the starting point of my China journey.

I was travelling with my two bosses. They were flying business class, while my ticket was for economy. But before we went to our separate seats, they took me into the business-class lounge with them. So, at least the beginning of my journey came with a little extra comfort! 😊
The lounge was a pleasant place to spend the time before boarding. Warm wood, orange cushions, green chairs and little pockets of plants made it feel more like a café than an airport waiting area.

A business-class lounge, an economy seat and two meals later, this would be the first chapter of my China trip. For now, it was time to settle in and let the journey begin.
Then it was time to board and settle into my economy seat.
I wouldn’t say Cathay Pacific’s economy class was uncomfortable. But the space around my seat felt much like what I’m used to on a short flight. For a journey of eleven hours, you do start wishing for a little more room to stretch out!My part of the plane for the next eleven hours.

We were served two meals during the flight, which helped break up the journey. And there on the screen in front of me was our destination: Hong Kong. Seeing almost eleven hours still to go made the distance feel very real.i couldn’t really sleep also couldn’t watch anything. i was with my thoughts only 🙂
